Recently met up with stevens and headed to downtown Detroit to take some photos (OK, we work together so the meeting up part was easy).
I weaseled us up onto the roof of one of Detroit's tallest buildings and took many pictures, including my Stock Photography II entry  . I also took these

Our hope was to get some shots as the sun set over the city and the Ambassador Bridge, and the weather was fantastic until about 1 hour before sunset when smoggy, foggy, gray, dreary skies rolled in. Bummer. Still managed a couple decent shots despite the very limited visibility in most directions. Sadly, we both had committments soon after sunset so we did not get many "nighttime" pics of the area.
Am going to try this again in the near future if anyone in the area is interested (safety in numbers theory) - perhaps a Detroit get together, and maybe a trip across the border to Windsor, Ontario, Canada, eh, for some shots of the Detroit skyline at night. |
