Just now playing with some of my images from my Whistler, BC vacation a week ago. Check these out and let me know what you think ...

Thank you for sharing these vacation moments. I particularly liked Samish Bay and Brandywine Falls. The sunset picture seems very dark and uninteresting over a large part of the pic. What is the problem here? |

I am sure that the problem was a dark foreground and a very bright sky.
Is Samish Bay near Bellingham? I went to college there, and it looks very familiar. Nice shots, reminds me of home.
Did you tour much of Washington? And why did you choose that location for a vacation? Looks like you hit the typical BC weather.

Good job, rls! Those are some beautiful shots. Isn't it great when you can record them well?! Nothing like the "snapshots of old" if you are anything like me. These are photographs worth framing. Someday I hope to revisit some of those places geared with what I have learned since then (then=the years when I knew nothing about how to take a good photo, and when I didn't have a good camera). Good for you for taking the opportunity.

I believe it was near Bellingham. We arrived in Seattle late the first Friday and drove to Whistler on Saturday. Stayed in the Whistler village for almost a week. Went to Vancover Monday and took the ferry to Nanaimo on Tuesday. Hiked, biked, and toured much of the Whistler area on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Spent the day in Seattle the last Friday. Being from the Southeast/Midwest (Kentucky) the wife and I try to vacation in different areas each year. This year we were lucky enough to accompany her sister and brother in law to British Columbia. They love Canada and this being our first trip there has hooked us on Canada also. Whistler and the surrounding area is awesome in the summer and I bet it is even better in the winter. I took over 1200 images. I'll try to post a few more as soon as I can wade through them all.

Thank you for the compliment Karen. I appreciate the kind words from someone whose work I admire so much. I have to admit a little of what goes on here at DP Challenge is beginning to soak in.

A lot of these shots are fantastic... Blackcomb, the Boat on 99, and BeaverLake stand out especially...
The sunset seems a little off to me too, and I wish I knew why... I have never successfully shot a sunrise/set in several decades of trying... Z, the foreground doesn't look all that dark to me so I'm not sure what you mean...

Very nice -- I love BC but haven't been there since I got a digital camera. I while ago someone was asking about inexpensive cameras -- this was shot by my friend Ann with an Olympus D-360L (1.3 MP, no zoom, auto mode) last year. |

Ann's photo is fantastic... It goes to prove you need the proper subject material first regardless of the camera ...
