I have been lookingto get a tele lens adaptor for my S7000 camera, especially interested in the Olympus TCON17 lens as I ave been told it is better than the 1.5 Fuji one.

Can someone advise whether this is correct and also in addition to the lens what I need to buy for it to fit on my camera.

Many Thanks Folks

You should have a 55mm filter adaptor that came with the camera, this is all you will need as the TCON17 has a 55mm thread.

I'm pleased with my TCON17 and have used it with a Fuji S3000 that we used to have.

Yeah I agree the TCON 17 is great BUT it is not threaded so adding filters to it is impossible. That is its only drawback.

I'm not sure if the Fuji telephoto extention is threaded though.

This is true Bob, but as it has a standard 55mm thread you can easily put a 55mm filter at it's rear :)

I have the Fuji 1.5x for my old 602. Quality wise it's up there with the TCON, but in reality it's more like a 1.4x. It also has no front thread.

As I remember from the Fuji teleadapter that I had, the rear element protrudes, meaning that a filter cannot be fitted between camera and adapter.

Certainly can... We have a protective filter on all the time and the TCON 17 would just fit directly into it I'm sure.

You can add an empty filter ring to get around this though. I also vaguely remember something about people fitting a step up or step down ring in the front of the adapter to allow filters to be added.

No...The bottom of the teleconverter lens, at least the Fuji 1.5, extends past the threads on the lens. I am not able to to connect it to a filter on the end of the adaptor.

I dropped a UV filter and as the TCON17 has a plastic thread the glass-less filter has become a permanent fixture on it, I'm assuming from what has been mentioned on this thread that the same idea could work with the Fuji x1.5 to get around the problem.

Great solution...a mini adaptor. Thanks!

Well I tried ours and had no trouble with it. Not sure what the difference is though.
