Just put together a couple of small presentations showing how I get from initial thought to final image.
Both sequences are in this gallery with comments below each image. |

how positively stunning! You found some small weed and made it look so nice. What did you use as the diffuser and how did you hold it up while holding the camera? |

Nice write-up. A good learning aide for beginners and a nice reminder for those (*cough* me) that sometimes forget to slow down and look closer.

I used a photoflex litedisc (12" diameter) diffuser and just hand held it and the camera. The last shot was at ISO 1000, as I didn't have a tripod with me. If I was doing these more seriously, I'd have the camera on a tripod and use a plamp to hold the litedisc. |

I believe that it's an inflatable (pump-up) clamp, oh the joys of pneumatics :)
Of course, I might be wrong ;)

Oh wow - I thought it was a typo and took the piss accordingly (being Scottish he deserves it *grin*), as it turns out there really is a Plamp.

ya boo sucks to you :)
I actually have a couple of plamps. One to hold a diffuser and the other to hold a gold/silver reflector to bounce some light back in to the scene. The ones I have are made by wimberly, as seen in the link above. In fact, there is a bundle deal on these available from Nature Photographers.net
