If anyone is planning on coming and is not on the confirmed list, I will assume that you do not want to do lunch. Please, please do not assume that I'll be able to wiggle you in at the last minute.

just in case anyone is not sure and can't let clara know, cap city is right across the street from union station, which has a ton of places to eat. so, if you can or want to make the g2g, but can't make cap city, you don't have to go hungry...

Sorry, I can't confirm it. However, if we have no reservation, I am sure we could find another place to eat.

D'oh, I can't do the 9th...I thought 9th was a Friday

You're shameless, Clara :0)

Is anyone interested in going on the 8th? Otherwise I'll book my regular flight out of DC at 2:40pm instead of taking the last flight at 9pm

Your timing is impecable blemt. Latest Park Service update places this outing in the middle of a 3 day peak period.

You may all repeat after me, "Clara is wise, Clara is good." ;)

Bonus points to whoever can name the movie that line came from.

Clara-and who else is coming? Double check the list of confirmeds and let me know if you aren't on it!

The cherries have already blossomed here in Turkey. And now it's snowing again. :/

Just thought it was the perfect timing to complain about the weather here while you Americans enjoy your normal weather :P

Just checked the weather on Weather.com and it's supposed to thunderstorm on Fri & Sat

I'm going to ditch work early and head out Monday and/or Tuesday

The local news reported that the Cherry Blossom parade starts at 10AM. I'm hoping to show up early and take some of that in.

(Clara is wise, Clara is good...)
Anyone else showing up early drop me a PM if you like, maybe we can meet a bit early....

(Clara is wise, Clara is good...)
Coolhar, are you going to join us? Last I looked you weren't on the list at top. (Can't conveniently check now being in "REPLY" mode). Hope you'll make it.

Sorry Clara, I'm the brown-ribbon king of Trivial Pursuits, movie edition. No googling allowed to find the movie, right? Then I'm clueless.

Looking forward to Saturday, it won't be long now!

There is a chance that I will meet you all there. Don't worry about saving me a seat for lunch though.

If I do drive down, where do you suggest I park for the day?

What's the weather looking like?

Not ignoring your question, JPR, but I don't know where to suggest that you park; hope you can make it. As for the weather, the early forcast is for a 30% chance of showers, high temp near 60. Should be nice.

where you park depends on where you're staying. the dc metro is fairly quick and efficient, and they have commuter lots all over the place.

I'm suggesting that people driving in meet up at Glenmont Metro. It's right by my house, has ample parking, and isn't too far off 495/95. It's also the end of the Red Line which is the line to Union Station. Plus parking is free on weekends. (at all metro lots) From past experience, it makes sense to try and round everyone up if possible *before* going into town. :)

This is going to be a very, very busy weekend. Pick a primary parking site, and a backup. I'll PM the people coming with my phone number later this week. Actually- I'll PM nova with my number and get him to do it. Delegating is my friend.

And the line is from Twister btw. :)

I'm going to try to make it but it looks sort of unlikely. I have an obligation in Balto that day with some people I've never dealt with before, I don't know what time it will be or how long it will take. So if I show up it will be a last minute thing, so therefore no meal reservation for me. You'll be in good hands with Clara as your guide.

But I'll make it down to the mall some time this week, or next weekend. Cherry blossoms are too cool to miss.

There's a big parking garage attached to the back side of Union Station, on weekdays you'll have to drive to the upper levels but I have never found it full.

I've been using wunderground.com lately for weather. I especially like a feature that breaks the day down into about 5 parts and gives chance of rain and cloud cover percentages for each. Here's next Sat: DC forecast for 4/9

Weather has been dismal here the last two days, very cloudy and raining on & off.

Only bad thing about that garage is that you have to pay for it. :P Makes more sense to park in a commuter lot and metro in. Lot less hassle. So to speak. ;)

Right you are. I was confused about weekday or weekend.

David! Yay! Gang, this is one of my coworkers. Play nice, and don't let him know what a lunatic I actually am. ;)

Clara, there is nothing wrong with lunacy! I subscribe quite liberally.
