ok. added text. I also noticed while doing this, that my photo was A LOT lighter in PS than it looks on DPC. Has anyone else had this problem? This could be why I always get comments that my photos are too dark. Could they possibly be made darker when submitting them?

That does look pretty dark.

If you are shooting in Adobe RGB, be sure you are converting to sRGB before saving your DPC version. This can be done by selecting Image/Mode/Convert to Profile (not Select Profile), then choose "sRGB for the profile, and in my experience "Perceptual" usually works best for Intend.

This is what mine would look like. I realize that I should have left more white space to the right... oh well.

wow. I've been using photoshop since '94 and I've never ever seen convert to profile before. I have no idea what any of that means, but I just followed your directions and I can't see any difference on PS. I'm going to upload the new version and see if i can tell a difference. Interesting, though. Thanks for the advice Terry :)

EDIT:

Well, I don't see a difference on DPC either. here it is:

How do you know if you're shooting in AdobeRGB? I shoot in raw.

Here's roughly what I had in mind for mine: I don't have time to work on this so it's really not very well-selected type or effects, but...

Make sure you select Monitor RGB under Proof Setup before editing anything for DPC, then use Save for Web to save your image for posting.

How many scored this low because of text I wonder? I know it's a crappy font and I had planned on taking it out but I forgot. I'm quite pleased with my finish given my faux pas. ;)

I really liked it. I gave it a 10.

Very cool font. What is that?...or did you "create" it?

No, I'm completely font-creation ignorant... it's a font called "Jokerman" that I absolutely adore. I use it a lot for things for the kids and for school. It's kind of a fun, all-around font. I download a lot of fonts from the internet, but I think this one was actually already on my computer when I got it. I'm sure you can find it somewhere, like //www.1001freefonts.com or some other font place like that.
