To me (born 1955 - was a young adult in the 70's), there are a lot of fashion trends now that are very similar to the 70's. The low cut hipster pants on girls, long scraggy hair, neon colored daisy shapes on towels and shower curtains - so many things. There are all sorts of Lava lamps, bead curtains and other 70's type stuff in the stores. It shouldn't be that difficult to come up with a Spirit of the 70's type photo.

I'm looking forward to recreating my college years!

When you see a huge pile of Star Wars stuff on fire, it'll probably be Laurie's shot.
Reason it woud be on fire? She was burning a bra for the challenge shot and "Oops" it slipped and fell into the pile.

Darn the bad luck!

i think the fashions come back sooner or later... here in portugal people are very 70's wearing... sort of... they call it the fashion people... so guess it always comes back to the originas but not the same as the way people thought in that time. the ideias are diferent but the clothes are similar... now the question is what fashion will come next... :) thanks riot

No doubt - how many times have Converse (now Nike owned) 'Chuck Taylors' been in fashion?

My first car 1970 Ford Mustang - royal blue, black vinyl top (my mom made me sell it because it had the gas tank in the back - referring to the three teenage girls who perished in their pinto). But I did love that car.

Someone mentioned Traffic - oh yeah, John Barleycorn Must Die! Man, that is early 70s!

absolutely! lou reed, the ramones, iggy pop, debbie harry, patty smith, the sex pistols, the clash were all strong in the 70's. for inspiration on that scene, a great movie to watch would be 'sid and nancy'. another great movie on the slighly chiller side would be 'dazed and confused'.

there are tons of other movies and aspects of the 70's that could be represented, these two are just great movies depicting slices of life in that crazy era. actually, whether you enter this challenge or not--if you havent seen those movies, you should watch them just on principle!

...be a lot cooler if you did. ;)

I re-live the 60's and 70's every day . . . my daughter is a "punk" with Janis Joplin hair and wears all the clothes I had the originals of back then, and I am married to a man who gets asked if he is James Taylor all the time! I still buy every new recompilation of Marc Bolan's music produced, and still cry when I listen to Cat Stevens. I guess I really am doomed!

Have a 12 year old starting to broaden his musical spectrum. You should see him freak when I start moving (heaven forbid I start singing!) to some of his recent selections (ZZ Top, Heart, AC/DC, Zepplin, Doobie Brothers, etc..). Quite a range I know...it's kinda fun! :-)
