Solid.

The 70's are so full of clichés that it's going to be difficult to get something original, yet creative. But there it is, that's why it's called DPChallenge. :) I guess I can't break out the old water bong (actually I don't really own one) - that would be against the rules anyway. It would make a super shot none the less. Too bad.

I am not going to use it, but I still have my WIDE leather belt with my name carved in the leather and pot leaves carved & dyed on the sides. Never could bring myself to toss it.
(still fits me too!)

This would not in and of itself violate the rules ... how you depict it might.

Anybody wear wallabee's in the 70's? (those tan suede shoes with the gum-eraser soles)

Actually some of the smallest 35mm cameras ever made came out in the 70s. The Pentax ME Super W/40mm Pancake lens setup comes to mind as one of them.

I was in high school in the 70s. Lots of fond memories...pics from back then though..scary fashions!

Lessee...I have some 8 tracks. A 79 Lincoln. A '70 model year wife.
I am missing an afro, a polyester shirt with a picture on the back, a Rubik's Cube.

I guess I'll put on some BeeGees or Dark Side of the Moon and make some magic brownies and seek a mind expanding experience for some inspiration.
orussell, stop bogarting that bong.

Here in the states we had something similar called 'earth shoes'. Still available here.

From an american history website:

Mood rings, lava lamps, Rubik's cube, Sea Monkeys, smiley face stickers, and pet rocks all captured the imagination of Americans during this decade. The wildest fad surely was streaking nude through very public places! Families vacationed in station wagons and everyone wanted an RV.
Maybe there's an idea there?

Have to go to the salvation army and buy back some of my stuff. ;)

Probably will sit another one out unless I get inspired during the week or at 11:00 pm next Tuesday. More time for working on my old photos.

I think wallabee's might be close to what we called chucka's--tan suede ankle boots, gum soles, fat round laces, and absolutely no arch support.

Anyone remember buffalo sandals from India--you were supposed to wear them wet to mold them to your feet. Also: Trax sneakers, the first "designer" jeans, headbands, and leather bracelets.

From the rules you CANNOT do:

"(viii) encourages the use of drugs or the under-age use of alcohol or cigarettes"

I'm not sure what determines "encouraging the use of..." since there have many pictures containing bottles of alcohol and young people use this site. It seems like showing a bong or joint would be like showing a bottle of alcohol.

Other opinions?

Darn - I used this one too early!!!! I don't think I am going to have time for this one, which I really regret!

To show an illegal substance is ok. To show it in a way that encourages its use, especially underage or illegal use of substances is contrary to the terms of service. If you have a specific idea in mind and are worried it may violate the ToS, you may contact anyone on the SC with a private message and run your idea by us before you shoot it or enter it.

Velour bellbottoms
Platform shoes
Hot pants (not sure they came out in the 70s, but I do like to remember them)
V8 muscle cars! I miss my 72 Cougar w/351 Cleveland.
The AMC Gremlin
The AMC Pacer (sorry)
