I went with a completely different angle, but these two were my alternate options (same shot, just cropped tigher).

Here's my outtake:
Unfortunately, this was taken years ago, and since I submitted the only good looking major bridge we have during something different, I don't have an "in-take". I was going to revisit this site to see how it looked during winter, but didn't have time and I suspect the season was not good for any shots there anyway.
Waiting for a fall "Bridges IV" challenge.

This ought to be a long thread.
My wife picked this one and she is almost always right, at least about what will do well here. Of course I had to submit something else which will get hammered and restore order to the universe. |

sunset shots do well here...until this challenge!
I sufferd an hour in 13 degree temps for my UPDATE 14/4.78 entry.
AT last, moving up! The blind must be done voting :o

I decided not to enter this sunset shot and now I'm wondering. I entered something really different for me and after starting strong it is now getting hammered. Oh well.

My entry is doing well ( hard to say though after only 14 votes)
This is my outtake.
Comments?
Thanks!

Still trying to learn the colors and contrast of editing with this laptop. It shows in my entry... How do these look? Please be honest. |

They look fine on my PC.
Good contrast and really nice B&W.
The composition it's nice but there are some distracting elements in the back and fore -ground. (wires, the handle)
Overall I would have given a 5, I think.
But once again: the contrast and the B&W are really nice!

Thank you for your comment..I need them now more than ever as I try to iron out the problems. I seem to have more trouble with color. |

Two views of the bridge I did not enter. I notice at least 3 shots of this bridge in the challenge, btw; none of them mine.
I decided (once more) to steer away from the postcard shots and submit something moodier and more powerful; I'm paying for it, as usual.

You are welcome!
How's going your FZ20? I still keep an eye on this camera.
The bridge was my last entry...My A70 died today! I am really torn: change the CCD and save money for a dSLR or the FZ20.
From all the comments seems to be a great camera. And I think the lens is really worth. Something I have to save a LOT if I go dSRL.
Ups! Sorry to change the topic of the thread!

I really like my FZ20 it is lite and I can go from 36mm to 432mm without changing lens. Keeps from dust getting on the sensor like a dSLR. However it does have a few drawbacks like of center tripod mount and a LCD view finder. I wish they could make it like a dSLR so you could see through the lens. And I would like to have a bulb function on the SS instead of stopping at 8sec. Other than that it is great. It is beyond my abilities right now. If I jump into a dSLR I would just have a lot more to learn. So for me I think it was my best choice. I like the "IS Mode" if you look at portfolio the picture of the Robin is taken hand held at full 432mm. No bad with IS. |

I'll have a look. The main reson I am afraid of it is the noise of the small CCD. I got the virus with stock photograhy and almost all of my rejections are because of noise :-(

Yes the noise level is slightly higher than other cameras. But I think the f2.8 throughout the full lense makes up for most of it. And I have Neat Image free version and it helps some. But there is a fine line between noise and neet image. To much noise hurts your picture and to much neet image can hurt your picture. |

I liked the idea of the 2 different types of bridges in this one....
...but when I went back to get a better shot (without the head) the ship had sailed. |

I didn't enter anything. This was a last minute shot. Wasn't happy with it so for once I didn't enter just because I had something fitting the challenge.

A bit too early. I can't post any of my other outtakes because they're of the same bridge and they'd give it away. |
