Yes, I still can't believe that my very underrated picture won in the Asiabooks competition. When I got the call this evening, I had to pinch myself to make sure that I wasn't dreaming. I never expected it will end end up in the top 5 as I was aware that there were so many Thai photographers who sent entry to this competition. And I came out second for this picture:

For more details about it and to see other winners, here is the site:

It is starting to sink in... Now I have to be more confident about submitting pictures to other contests. Any idea on how I could get information about photographic competitions? Sorry for the overexcitement. I am still in cloud 9.

Manny

You mean the 252 people (me included) who made you one of their favorite photographers, plus the 6 ribbons, didn't give you enough confidence? Well, I'm glad you finally realize what we already know: that you are one hell of a great photographer.

Congratulations! Keep entering, you will have many more victories, I'm sure.

Hello DPCers,

Thanks for the many words of congratulations, appreciation and encouragement. You've made my day!

Actually, the prize money is secondary. The "winning" is more important as I am planning to bolster up my portfolio and I am looking for some "daring" publishers to publish my work in a "coffeetable-sort" of format. This is my LIFELONG goal. This year, my goal is to join more competition to fill in the pages of my very un-adorned portfolio.

I know there has been a thread about photo competitions before. Anyone will help me guide to it.

BTW, thanks to nsbca for pointing out one. And many thanks to everyone for the advices and critics. DPC (along with trekearth and treklens) helped me pick up my entry BUT most of all, you've helped me become who I am now (in terms of my photography).

I also join the Bangkok Photographic Society's competition for the past two months, and I usually have one or two works that would end up in the top until the judges have a closer look and vote it down realizing that it was a "digital" image. So I usually end up in the top 5 or 6 (but still get published in their magazine). That's why I get discouraged (somehow) about joining "open" competition.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Manny

Why am I not surprised Manny.
After following your progress on TL & TE for some time now, I knew it was a only matter of time before something big happened for you. You are a true master of what you do and I for one, can only wish to ever be half as good as you.

There will be a day when we can say "I remember Manny back when..."

I tip my hat - Congrats!
