I'm amazed nobody is willing to just go read the short rules page...
"Nudity: Nudity is an acceptable form of art on this site. Photographs may not, however, show male or female genitalia or any acts of sex. Nudity should be presented in a tasteful manner."
I think that sums it up...
also for all your links that dont work and your MSN site that has to be logged into.... all those problems can be solved by using a free adult image host... like:

You see what happens when we read the rules... Our bubbles burst and fun thread dies.

And she never will. The Supreme court wouldn't touch that one with a six inch pole.

Does that mean that Risquebusiness just got the OK from a member of the SC to go ahead and post the pictures?

Speaking personally (and not as a representative of SC as a whole) I see no problem with the images posted as they have been. The images were linked rather than posted directly to the thread, and adequate warning is given in advance of the links.
In this case I think the users are given enough warning to allow them to make an informed decision as to whether to view the images.
Be aware, of course, that the same images sumbitted to a challenge would be subject to disqualification.

It was just out of curiosity, I have no intentions of posting self-portraits of that kind! lol

i like grip the best. Its hard to make men look pretty..they just...arent really that pretty. Somehow, grip seems more intimate...perhaps because there is also a hand to focus on. Or maybe because it gives an impression of his intimacy with himself..which is far more intimate than lone genitalia thrusting toward...toward... i suppose that is up to our imaginations. I personally find a deeper emotional offense to unknown genitalia thrusting toward me...which is where my imagination went with it. Nice work |

Now that I can see them, I have to agree with the sentiment expressed earlier; they seem to be photographing an erect penis just for the sake of photographing it -- but then, I have thought the same about many of the breast photographs on the sight. That's not a bad thing, they just doesn't project anything toward me. :)
I can't answer your question regarding art or porn as I consider the difference to be nothing more or less than the consideration of the viewer -- we all have our different likes and dislikes.
Welcome to the site. It looks like you are likely to add a element that has been much requested by our fairer members -- but if this is all your photography consists of be prepared to take quite a bit of ribbing. :)

I thought I'd hit the forum with some impact, lol.
I shall make sure I post more subtle work and am in agreement with many, the male body is a rather ugly form to photograph, unless of course it's a nice six pack!

Again my personal opinion only, should be fine but please assign them to the "Nude" gallery.

I participate in other photography sites as well as DPC, and one thing I really like about DPC is that I never get surprised by images which I don't particularly want to view... I don't mind respecting someone else's view of art, but I don't want it IMPOSED on me. Case in point, I really like photo.net, but if I want to run through the critique forum, there's no way to avoid getting a bondage shot mixed in with street and landscape. Photosig handles this a bit better with user preferences, but it seems that blocking anything over "G" rating leaves about 5 images to view over there :)
If DPC decides at some point to increase its appeal to the adult photography demographic I'd just request that we have some kind of segmentation available. I don't really want to debate art vs. porn, I just want to make sure that DPC doesn't turn into another photography site that no one can use at work / in a family setting / etc.

OK, on a more serious note, I'm gonna have to agree with Britannica on this one. In my opinion, those photos are not very "artsy", but once again, it's all in the viewer's perseption.

Thought I'd start with the ones that might shock first and then post the more subtle ones later!! I would actually like to congratulate the men on here for being open-minded. I was very worried as to how you'd all take it and I couldn't have asked for nicer comments or a warmer welcome.
Thank you to all :o)

I'm not against male frontal nude shots at all, but I think that an artistic approach should be aesthetic; focusing on lines, simmetry, erotism and beauty. When you see a shot that focuses all your attention on an erect penis I think it crosses the line of erotism into something else, IMHO.
Let's take Robert Maplethorpe as an example. In his shots when a penis is shown, erect or flacid, it won't draw attention from aestheticity.

I found grip and sepia nude were the better compositions. They reminded me a lot of the work of Robert Maplethorpe which isn't bad company to be in. |

Really ? Link contains an erect penis. You've been warned
I would say they were quite similarly focused entirely on the penis, in the same way the shots earlier do. The arching composition might be better but it is pretty clear what the focus of attention is.

I'm not sure whether most of these fall under that clause but in my opinion 'Grip' does.

I agree with you, but the composition as a whole is aesthetically appealing. (Parallel lines)
