there was a thread today where we compared the most mundane photographs we'd ever taken in the challenges (based on the standard deviation of the vote distribution). I suggested there that least mundane (a.k.a. most controversial) photos would be more interesting to look at. And here I am, with probably the most controversial photo of the road sign challenge

"The road sign"

(I did not put up the thumb, so more thin-skinned populace would not have to look at it). Its distribution has std 2.42 (very high, believe me) and it has 3(!) peaks - at 1, 6, and 10. Isn't it something? I knew it would produce a wide spectrum of opinions, and I was not disappointed. Besides, I am thrilled that I managed to beat a very nice shot by yurasocolov of a similar kind by whopping .4 points :)

what are your most controversial photos?

I told you "naughty" but gave you a 7 because I think it's quite meaningful of the times and shows intolerance in many ways, some call it "road rage" I'm old enough to feel it's rude but my kids think it's normal and not offensive at all, sign of the times I suppose. The photo itself certainly didn't deserve 28 1's !!!

That is a very high standard deviation, I think my highest is around 1.75 I tend to like the photos that have the higher deviations, it means people have strong feeling about them and there is a wide range of views.
