I think the alternate would have scored higher, but personally like the one I used better.

I really like the alternate Brad. I think the second one is more thought provoking. When I look at it, I am reminded of life decisions and the way that one decision can change your course in life.
In your entry, I just see a funny sign.
Hope this helps.

I prefer the alternate as it reminds me of the endless barrage of directions (in every conceivable and diametrically opposed formats) issued by government bodies.
This sign is a clear reminder that we (Jane and Joe Public) are constantly being tugged at by people who have no clear idea as to where they really want us to go.
I don't know about you,,, but I suddenly feel much better....hehehehe

The alternate wins hands down, it is much more thought provoking. The BG in the entry does nothing to enhance anything IMO.

I prefer the alternate for the same reason as others--the bg doesn't add. |

I also prefer the alternative. The first one is more snapshotty to me... just a picture of a roadsign in situ. In the second one the way the sign is isolated allows one to focus on the content of the sign itself and, as someone above said, it makes you think more about alternative meanings, such as the decisions one has to make in life and whether one can turn off the path one has chosen once one is on it...

(boring, like most)
vs
(entered but regarded by some as "not a roadsign')

To me, this is almost a toss up. Your second would have done better, but your first did well, so it is tough to say.
SDW65, I left a comment on your foto.

I would have scored the alternate higher. The blue sky as background looks awesome. I felt the building in the background made the picture too busy. I did see a comment on the picture that I agree with. If you could have taken a picture of the signs with the street as background, that may have scored higher. |
