I had a wonderful afternoon today. It is February 5, 2005, it is sunny outside, and it’s 61 degrees. I couldn’t ask for a much nicer day in the dead of winter in western North Carolina. Normally, it’s much colder than this outside this time of year. Anyway…

I visited the grand opening of a new exhibit at the Catawba Science Center called “Rainforest Alive” today. I guess anyone who is reading this knows that people like us (the Photo-A-Day) people always have a camera within reach. It’s even worse with me. Since I’m a stringer for the local newspaper, I am always looking for feature art opportunities that I may be able to sell to the paper. When I saw this, I had to shoot. Miss Sarah McGreevy (10 years old) is holding her spot at the end of the line for the free face painting for the kids who attended this exhibit today. The people in charge of this project were kind enough to make a visible cut-off point so kids would not spend a lot of time in line and then get turned away at the end of the day.

Great shot - it's nice to see something different when children are involved!
