First off let me say congratulations to the ribbon winners of this challenge and all others that entered. It appears to me that first and second place ribbons were taken of the same place, just different perspectives. Am I wrong? If I'm right has that happened before?

Yeah Le Louvre. It's in both titles. It was an obvious choice for those with access to it.

Yes they are the same -- and yes it has happened before ... at least once, "Waiting". 1st and 2nd were taken from nearly the same perspective, with one flipped along the vertical axis to give a distinction between them.

Ya they are I.M Pie's glass pyramid in the courtyard of the Louvre in Paris. I remember a couple getting the 1-2 in a previous challenge, an image of a person on a rock in a lake at sunrise was blue. they started out 1 & 3 but #2 got DQed due to a date issue.

It's a conspiracy!

(That's my theory anyway.)

Never happened before that I can see. But that's probably the most famous, and controversial, blend of old and new in the world. It's stunningly beautiful and polarized the entire nation when it was proposed and built. I'm not surprised to see these two images finish 1-2.

Robt.

edit: in "waiting" they are similar images but not the same place.

I agree! They both are great photographs and well done by both photographers. Again congratulations to the ribbon winners.

Of course it is the same place. I was lucky to be in the right place (Paris) in the right time for this challenge - was on a week-long business trip. I think that the other Louvre is nicer than mine, so his blue is well deserved. My only "consolation" is that I was there first - my shot is taken some three days before :)

edit: Thanks for all nice comments and congratulations!

They are the same place ... same skyline same tree and even the same pole in the background. The only differences are the crop, date taken, model and one is flipped along the vertical axis.

They even used the same camera.
I am wondering if the models are the photographers: photog A modeling in photo B and photog B modeling in photo A.

Yes, you won the race.
Race for next challenge: the first one who shot a pink Louvre will win the Louvre race.
