The lighting is harsh, the colours are awful, the focus is soft, the composition is weak...
But I know I'll always treasure these photos. These are the first photos of Michael Ernest Brian, my son.
From a very proud dad :)

Thanks guys.
He was four weeks early so we have to watch him through the plexiglass for now when all we want to do is hold him.
His little lungs are getting stronger by the minute though so in the next few days I'll have a great new model to work with.
Funny how I no longer care about my crappy score in the 'Three' challenge. :)

Beautiful, brings back memories of my son's birth, the neat thing is you really won't need the pictures, this will be a moment forever burned in your memory. That's what makes parenting so special. When your looking at your child, mine are now 11 and 8, no matter how old, what they have done, I picture that inner child innocence, like you have captured here. |

Nothing awful at all about them...they're beautiful! I know you will treasure these moments with such a tiny little guy. My first was 8 weeks early and I never thought in a million years he would survive, much less grow to be the 118lb, 5'3" tall 11 year old he is today. Preemies are fragile but incredibly resilient and strong. Congrats on a gorgeous son and here's to many years of more great photos! :o)

Congratulations, Paul! Both Junior AND photos are lovely.
Give your wife an extra hug from us all, and make sure you capture all those "firsts" along his way. |

Like someone has said, there is nothing awful about those. Over the past three years, I have taken loads of photographs for challenges and contests, but the ones I really enjoy pulliing up and looking at are the ones of my son.
Congrats!!
I can't wait to have hte first pictures of my daughter on "this side" in a week or two!!

Congratulations! The quality of these photos are perfect, just as they are meant to be. You'll treasure them forever.
My first baby spent time in the ICN and my biggest regret was not having photos of the special people who spent hours looking after her. On the first morning I came in to find the nurse, this huge hulk of a man, singing lullabies to Amanda. Made me cry to know that she was being loved while I couldn't be there -- shoot still makes me cry! While I'll remember it forever -- I sure wish I had a photo of the moment.
Treasure this time, It goes awfully fast. |

debi -- I agree. one of my favorite shots when my son was born was one my husband took of the dr (who is now a missionary in Zimbabwe) and nurse who delivered my son.

Let's see...
Try some levels adjustment. Hue/saturation would help. Maybe some USm. Crop. The medical paraphernalia is distracting, clone it out. Frankly, it all looks a little MESSY to me. This business of reproduction is messy, if you ask me. Maybe some NeatImage?
jejejeâ¢
Our first was 5 weeks early, it's hell to wait, isn't it?
(tears of joy, literally)
Robt.
