Ground breaking ideas and concepts serve to "expand" the sum of our knowledge, artistic values and provide a font of new inspiration. They present technical and artistic originality.

Have we "Broken New Ground" ?

Yes....I believe that we have...Kudos to DPC

More challenges like this please..

I find it quite difficult to say what is or isn't breaking new ground. But I did think the standard of photos in this challenge was pretty high in general. Well done everyone.

My definition of Ground breaking is "showing me something that i wasn't aware of previously" either technically or artistically.

A new insight or perspective...I've learned a great deal from this challenge. And not just from the high scorers.

I love the images that you have chosen fibonacci. Quite a few of the underrated efforts, but then again, there are alot of them in every contest.

And your ray images are just awesome. I saw those in an earlier thread, and yours was underrated also! I love imagination!

"There's nothing new under the sun."
-King Solomon-

I don't think I saw any new photographic techniques come out of the challenge, but then I didn't expect to. I did expect to see at least a couple good implementations of existing techniques.

I had what I think is a pretty good idea for a technique that I haven't seen very often, and perhaps never the same as I envisioned it. But, as usual, I couldn't get any time to give it a try. I'm keeping the idea in mind for the future.

Fibonacci, thanks for the praise on my image (the two-face one).

I have to say that graphicfunk's image (the bottle one) was amazing from a 'how the?' standpoint...one of the few that made me and others reeally wonder. I fully expected it to place higher - and it placed 3rd!

This challenge was great because it let all of us get a bit adventurous without fear of reprisal.

Thanks again.

The true benefit is an uplifting and the raising of our personal photographic perception. This is more like old wine in new bottles, but it helps expand the potential that hides beneath common techniques. The creative pursuit can unearth a new look from an old technique if the search is conducted with passion.

Many entries did not get their due credit and this is understandable when there are only 3 main prizes but I believe this challenge has enough material to show some of the possibilities that exist. There are so many variations that can be deduced from this collection. Search and you should find.

My appreciation goes to all the entrants. Let's do it again and push the envelope even further.

Of all the photos in the challenge Paul....yours was the only one that completeley stumped me as regards to the technique. I was desparate for the results date to learn how you managed this one and learned a lot from your technical description.
Thanks

Regarding the water to wine image, I am pleased that it at least placed third. You see, outside of the hook, the transition line from water to wine, the image has no other entertainment for the eyes. My only consolation is that as far as my research goes no such image exist "in camera"
