well, my movie title photo was destroyed by the voters but loved by the commentors... anywho tell me if my score would be different if I had uploaded the correct white balanced one.
submitted photo
whitebalanced
that seemed to be the major complaint by the commentors.. anyway just an afterthought input would be appreciated

Yes, a bit better but poor lighting is ultimately the downfall of this photo...

Well I liked the orginal one fine, the WB'ed one is better though.
I was also destroyed by the voters in MT.
My entry:
 original w/o blur 
The reason for applying Gaussian blur was the the stars are kinda doubled (I probably moved the camera) and really annoying in that sense.
Maybe it would have done better as: It came from outer space

it's just hard to see any definition in that photo, thats why i didn't score it to high. but perhaps thats a good depiction of a pheonix... ohwell...

This one was sitting below 5 for most of the challenge, and then climbed a few rungs before closing. I thought it a simple fun-loving image which did not ask too much of the voters.

Your mistake is in assuming there is logic applied to voting. :)

You can help prevent this atrocity from happening again by going to the Best of 2004 challenge and giving my photo a 10.
A photo is a terrible thing to waste.

umm... this just occured to me... do you all know what a matrix is?
what is the matrix?
heh.. well its a math problem. maybe thats why i scored so low, then again it is a pretty crappy pic

yes i do, i work with matrix algebra every day.
i voted this picture a 3, because it was poorly composed, in addition to being poorly lit. the white balance doesn't change things too much for me. to me it looked that matrix was scribbled on some toss-away homework page (else what was the e^x etc doing), two pills were placed, and a snapshot taken. it wasn't clear at all what the picture was trying to say. a clean un-ruled sheet of paper, just the matrix and not the other incidental symbols, and a slightly more thoughtful placement of the pills might have helped the score some.
