M I could have told you that you sucked :p

I gon't think you should pay much attention from her. She obviously has her set ways and thinks she is an expert. You have enough enquiries from others to rub it off anyway :)

How did your last two meetings go, was thie one of them?

This was one of our 4 in the last 4 days. The other 3 haven't replied. See, going into this weekend, I was like YEAH LETS GO!!! I had booked five in a row, I was heading towards the unofficial DWC record of 9 in a row without a rejection - then BAM! All of a sudden we meet 1 ok, 1 scary, 1 "wtf" and this one! Bride of Frankenstein.

Very loosely speaking, professional photographers split into two groups; artists and businesspeople. Some are fortunate enough to be both, but not all that many. Clients divide into similar groups, basically; visionaries and beancounters.

Generally, everyone's better off if each seeks out his own kind. I always thought of the "interview" as 2-sided, myself; while the potential client was evaluating me, I was evaluating him/her. Many times, I declined jobs because I saw too much potential for grief in the relationship.

Consider yourself fortunate that she was so transparent; sometimes by the time you find out, it's too late.

Well I know that it would have been fantastic to get all of these other weddings, but you can still learn from it. I guess like this last woman, it may help teach you to restrain from punching someonr, next time you want to :p

Its a tough industry.

Next time you will nail it. You have had to many freaks that tmrs has to be an improvement.

By the way it was never a good idea to advertise on freaks.com ;)

Actually, I don't really want the third one either. I may decline it even if they want us. They were ... really uncomfortable to be around.

You still can't shoot her wedding because you're uneducated like me!!

Wait til she finds out you have bad breath.

Chin up soldier !

Next time, take more info over the phone. That's what I've been taught, it weeds a lot of mismatched (aka crazy) clients out of the work pool.

Maybe you should stipulate you don't shoot weddings with more people in the bridal parties than on the guest list :-)

I deal with customers EVERY day, and there are those that you will never please no matter what. I have fired two customers in the last 4 ½ years because they were not reasonable people. They might have complained even if I paid them to work on their car.
DON'T take it personally. Be grateful they turned you down before you had to deal with them later.

Besides, being uneducated means we have better excuses. LOL

1) Some photographers still hand color photos... and some journalists still use typewriters. Neither will be around much longer.

2) I don't process my own film for the same reason I don't edit my own 8-track tapes.

3) I attended the same school as Einstein and Van Gogh, and I'm a bettter photographer than either.

Dear Miss Informed,
I wanted to thank you personally for your insightful letter. I hadn't realized just how far I must have exceeded the expectations of the local clientele- I may have to raise my rates! You can't imagine how excited I am to not be working with you on your upcoming event. I sincerely hope that you find EXACTLY the sort of photographer you are searching for. You've earned it.

P.S.- I am enclosing my business card for your fiancee, and will be happy to offer him a discount on his next wedding.

ROFL!! That's just too funny, Mav!

Let me recount one hellish experience I recently had.

I checked out the venue beforehand, it was dark, I told them it was dark.

She gets her pictures, ta da! They're dark! Not all of them, but most. Even with my 550EX flash I could only light the people, not the room (it was a big theatre with NO lighting).

She then tells me I was late, which I wasn't, I was actually early. She tells me I was late again later and missed family pictures with the groom and his side..I was early for that too but nobody was there.

She told me in some huuuuuuuge email how unprofessional I was, talented, but unprofessional. I ignored it. There was no point. She basically told me I ruined their day when really, I don't think anything in her email was the slightest bit accurate. Then she tells me if they have kids she wants me to do their photos *rolls eyes*. I think I'll be washing my hair that day.

I once worked for a company that produced a custom slide show for a large corporation. After their meeting, the client came back with a tray full of the slides they didn't use, and asked for a refund. Yikes!
