Was talking to my contact at House of Blues and he asked if I wanted a Review Ticket/Pass for an upcoming show. I've only ever asked for Photo Passes so not sure what he's talking about. Would it be for journalists?
Thanks,

who cares? sounds like it's a free ride. grab it and go.
...in other words, I have not a clue....
your friend knows that you want to do concert photography right?
Ask if you can bring your camera. |

LOL He's not my 'friend' persay, he's the guy I call at house of blues to get photo passes from so I'm pretty sure he already knows I'll be bringing my camera :-)
When they give out passes, they expect them to be used (for the most part) so I'm thinking unless I know what a review pass is then I shouldn't apply for one. It could be for interviews or something..I just don't knwo. |

I would GUESS that a Review Ticket is a ticket given to journalists wanting to later write a review of the concert. If I'm right then I'd also guess that it gives free entry to the concert but not necessarily access to the photographers' area, if such an area exists.
It also may not carry with it camera rights IF these rights are restricted to normal ticket holders.
I'd just ask him what the difference is between it and a photo pass and then decide...

See. I was thinking along the same lines as Kavey. Ask if you can bring your camera. That way you get implied permission to take pictures or a direct answer of "no, you can't bring your camera". It's a little more subtle than just outright asking what a review pass is. :}
Would your contact have asked if you wanted a pass if he wasn't your friend? Or if he thought you couldn't use it? Anyway. Can't you do an interview for the college paper? Who? what? where? why? Them's the questions.
Again. I don't know what it is, but it sure would be fun to find out. |
