I was looking for a compilation of instruction and descriptions for GIMP and how to use them... Does anyone have any experience with the book GROKKING THE GIMP or one of the O'Reilly GIMP HANDBOOKs?
Additionally, would a PS book be worthwhile by finding the parallel jobs possible in both?

I'd like to add a related request to your thread if I may.
Does anyone have a link to a free compiled GIMP program for Windows? I've found the source code, but have no way of compiling it. Mostly, I'm just curious about the program as I've heard some good comments about it.

i have the book "Grokking the GIMP"...seems to be pretty informative.

I also see that a bug fix has been issued as 2.2.1 but so far it is only in TAR format and not been compiled for Windows as of yet...but it was just released on 29 Dec so maybe it will be posted soon.

Good. I tried 2.2 over Christmas, and it crashed a couple of times. Hopefully they fixed whatever it was.

oooops...i just replied to this thread and accidently hit the REPORT POST button...so whoever reads those I DID NOT MEAN TO DO IT!
All I wanted to say is that my only bug is that while using UNSHARP MASK it will shut down the USM process if I pan in preview window....but if I deselect preview...reposition picture and then turn it on for comparisons...it is fine. |
