Greetings...
Lots of people post photos to this site asking for critique. There are lots of threads every day with a picture posted asking "What do you think about this?"
What's missing is the same thing that is missing with most challenge entries. The photographer rarely posts his/her own ideas and objectives with the photo. Instead, they post the photo... here it is.. what do you think?
The responses that follow are usually fairly brief with some comments about the technical flaws in the photo or the viewer's lack of interest. If the photo is exceptional, the gratuitous pats on the back follow just like in challenge comments.
Try changing the way you ask for critique. When you post a photo, tell the viewer what YOU think about it, why you made it, what you like about it, what you don't like about it, and why you want critique. The responses you get may be more valuable if you do.

Too bad we can't give that kind of explanation for challenge shots. I bet we'd all score higher ;)
