I only have challenge result data available for analysis, not each user's profile statistics, so I wouldn't be able to create a ranked list of "average vote cast". Plus, the profile data is cumulative since the user started at DPC; there is no way to analyze a subset of the data (to 2004, for example) like there is with the challenge results. |

Very interesting Eddy, thanks. And Congrats for making several of the lists yourself.
I always wonder at the people who win a ribbon and never enter again. Don't they want to know if it was a true indicator or just a fluke?

I'd like to know who gave out the most comments in 2004. Is it possible to find out about that?

Not something I can do; that would require access to the DPC database, therefore D&L would have to do all the "magic" for that one, and I think they are probably pretty busy with "other stuff" right now...
But on another note, instead of basing everything on score, I decided to assign "points" to various placements. That way, it isn't "just about the score". Specifically, I used these arbitrary values:
1st place = 10 points, 2nd = 9, 3rd = 8, 4th = 6, 5th = 5, top 10% = 3, top 20% = 2, top 30% = 1 point
Using only 2004 challenge entries, the point rankings were as follows:
1. labuda 164 points (72 challenges, 2.28 points/challenge)
2. jjbeguin 163 points (78 challenges, 2.09 points/challenge)
3. heida 144 points (28 challenges, 5.14 points/challenge)
3. tyt2000 144 points (62 challenges, 2.32 points/challenge)
5. scalvert 143 points (53 challenges, 2.70 points/challenge)
6. kosmikkreeper 137 points (43 challenges, 3.19 points/challenge)
7. Jacko 128 points (42 challenges, 3.05 points/challenge)
8. librodo 127 points (44 challenges, 2.89 points/challenge)
9. jonpink 126 points (55 challenges, 2.29 points/challenge)
10. BradP 124 points (56 challenges, 2.21 points/challenge)
11. EddyG 110 points (32 challenges, 3.44 points/challenge)
12. agwright 107 points (44 challenges, 2.43 points/challenge)
13. train 104 points (101 challenges, 1.03 points/challenge)
14. moodville 102 points (29 challenges, 3.52 points/challenge)
15. crabappl3 99 points (59 challenges, 1.68 points/challenge)
15. Konador 99 points (51 challenges, 1.94 points/challenge)
17. geewhy 98 points (49 challenges, 2.00 points/challenge)
18. dsa157 96 points (55 challenges, 1.75 points/challenge)
19. ellamay 95 points (72 challenges, 1.32 points/challenge)
20. arnit 92 points (47 challenges, 1.96 points/challenge)
21. graphicfunk 90 points (62 challenges, 1.45 points/challenge)
21. rhipster 90 points (57 challenges, 1.58 points/challenge)
21. G4Ds 90 points (54 challenges, 1.67 points/challenge)
24. bruchen 89 points (50 challenges, 1.78 points/challenge)
25. dsidwell 88 points (35 challenges, 2.51 points/challenge)
There were 1,358 users (37.86% of participants) who earned at least 1 point, 743 (20.71%) who earned at least 5 points, 307 (8.56%) who earned at least 15 points, 178 (4.96%) who earned at least 25 points. 100 (2.78%) people earned 38 points or more.

Eddy, is there any way you can post the full results, or the relevant .xls (or whatever) file so we down at the bottom of the chart can have the dubious pleasure of seeing our names on the 'net?
BTW interesting info. maybe we should start playing DPC-trivial pursiut :)
EDIT:
Out of pure curiousity: who has the biggest range? i.e. diff between highest and lowest score (in 2004).
and who has improved the most?
Hope you don't have a daytime job we're ruining for you :)

it is if you draw your n without the little line on the left. which, for the sake of this exercise - the one where i couldn't find another symmetrical unsername - I do. :)

I only got 6 points in 2004... I hope to improve my stats for this new year.
Why don´t you create a link with the statistics of 2005? If you want it, I´m volunteer to help you. |

57 points in 24 challenges (2.375 avg). I have improved, but need to submit more, way more.
Can anyone lend me a chunk of their brain's right hemisphere? I need more creativity.

lol, I never thought I'd make any list. I'm surprised to see that i'm tied with heida, i'm no where near her talent! With only a 1 point lead over scalvert, i'm sure he'll overthrow me with his growing creativity.
Thanks for taking the time to come up with these stats... |

I don't have any .xls files; all these stats are generated by perl scripts that I write which parse the results of each challenge and munges all the data into something meaningful.
I don't think posting the full results for any of these lists would be appropriate for the forums (in some cases, it would be over 3,500 lines!) but if there is a specific "list" that you want, I could probably put the full results somewhere else on the 'net...

I was just looking at this thread and thinking that changing the profile page to reflect current year's score might be interesting. Improvements would be clear for all to see.
Just a thought.
