One of mine is 1948 version of "The Bishop's Wife" I tend to like the classics.

The movie stars Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven.

A classic Christmas movie, "The Bishop's Wife" tells the story of a minister who read a sermon to his congregation one Christmas eve. Unbeknownst to the pastor, the message he gave was actually written by an angel. It reads as follows:

Tonight, I want to tell you about the story of an empty stocking.

Once upon a midnight clear there was a child's cry. A blazing star hung over a stable, and Wise Men came with birthday gifts. We haven't forgotten that night down through the ages. We celebrate it with a star hung on a Christmas tree and a cry of bells and gifts, especially with gifts. We bind them and wrap them, and we put them under the tree. You give me a tie, I give you a book, Aunt Martha always wanted an orange squeezer, Uncle Harry could use a new pipe, oh, we haven't forgotten anyone, adult or child. All the stockings are filled, all that is, except one, and we have even forgotten to hang it up! The stocking for the child born in a manger. It's His birthday we are celebrating, you know. Don't let us ever forget that. Let us ask ourselves what He would wish for most, and then let each of us put in his share - loving kindness, warm hearts, and a stretched out hand - all the shining gifts that make peace on earth.

My other favorite is the 1951 version of "A Christmas Carol" starring Alastair Sim.

Christmas Vacation, and Jingle All The Way with arnold schwarzeneger.

For those of you unfamiliar with Jingle All the Way. It's a movie about a high demand businessman doubling as a suburban father seeking the greatest toy of the year. Hilarity ensues as he hunts down the remaining toys around town. Sinbad plays a disturbed mailman who will go to any extent to attain the toy for his own son. Phil Hartman in one of his last great roles plays a neighborhood Suave, set on adding Schwartzeneger's wife to his collection. Can Schwartzeneger regain his Hero status with his son? How far will they go to be father of the year? Watch, laugh and find out!

Some of us share common tastes other than photography

A Christmas Story My wife bought this DVD for me last year

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation We have the DVD and have been watching it for weeks.
"'Tis the season to be Merry."
"Why, that's my name."
"No s***!"

The old version of Miracle on 34th Street American Movie Classics channel is running this every two hours today from 6:00 am until who knows when. I've already watched parts of it 3 different times.

And It's a Wonderful Life

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and Happy Holidays to those who choose to celebrate something else.

No doubt about it :)

Here is a list of just a few:

Christmas Movies

It seems there is a written rule for Hollywood that every actor must play Santa Clause before they retire. The long list even includes Whoopi Goldberg and Kelsey Grammer!

LOL

A great movie. No matter how many times you see it the introduction of the ghost of Christmas yet-to-come will not fail to send a shiver down your spine.

I'm going to bend the rules here and put in a plug for "Night Of The Meek", the Twilight Zone episode in which Art Carney played a department store Santa Claus from a poverty-stricken New York City neighborhood. When people think of Santa Claus generally the first impression is of a jolly, smiling, laughing fat man. Here we had skinny, sad-faced, Art Carney who reached the verge of tears several times while trying to explain the true meaning of Christmas, the gift of giving, and peace and good will toward one's fellow humans to money-hungry retailers, bullying bartenders, cynical policemen, and self-righteous bureaucrats. I have never, ever seen anybody play Santa Claus any better than Carney in this half-hour episode. The haunting, minimalist version of "The First Noel" which plays in the background while Carney is walking the snow-covered streets lost in thought adds a magical touch to a truely magical, moving, TV program.
