because I got dq'ed for major cloning. Yikes! I didn't realize that was wrong for moving something in the photo to a different spot.
Anyway..sorry folks.
Here is my picture that got dq'ed
Here is the shot I had up right before the challenge was up:
I should have left it up. :-(
While I am at it, I'll show you the other photos I thought of entering.
Lesson well learned. Now where to I go to join the dq club? |

That was one of my favs as well, and am so sorry to "see it go". I also love the one you originally put up, very nice!
No reason you still can't use that shot as a "print", it's wonderful. |

Not nice to be DQ'd I am sure, but you still have the image and you can use it well for a lot of other things.
So you actually got a DQ request? I am asking because I didn't notice what was moved. |

Sonifo could you post the original?
It would be nice to see what exactly was moved, and how far it was moved, as a learning tool for other members.
Thanks
PS. your photo was one of my favs in the challenge. |

Thanks folks.
Is it so wrong of me to think that I didn't deserve the dq? I really don't think it was major.
I am still bummed. |

It is not "so wrong" but somewhat unavoidable whenever the ruling is based on a subjective interpretation. Obviously, you didn't think it violated the rule, but probably should have realized that an alternative view was possible. The rules prohibit copying, deleting, and moving "major" elements -- I think the subject of the photo must always be considered a "major" element, and it was moved.
However, what you did you did well : ) |

There's nothing wrong with that at all... if you were submitting photos that you felt deserved DQ, there would be a problem. Hopefully this will help you understand our rationale:
Selective Editing: Adjustments can be made selectively to your photo. Cloning, dodging, burning, etc. to improve your photo or remove imperfections or minor distracting elements, etc. is acceptable. However, using any editing tools to duplicate, create, or move major elements of your photograph is not permitted. (emphasis added)
The express purpose of cloning the ornaments was to rearrange them in your photograph. Since the ornaments were both your subject and the topic of the challenge, they easily qualify as a major element. It was these facts which led to our vote to disqualify your entry.
Of course, none of this changes the fact that this is a beautiful photograph you should be proud of!
