Forgive the ignorance, not knowing the northeast of Texas from a lamppost..
Do you normally get snow in winter where you are? I assume you're a wee way above sea level given the size of Texas?
Cheers, Me.

We might get one or two days of snow a year... if we're really lucky. That's why goofy people like me go nuts when it does finally snow. And granted, we can't drive in it to save our necks most of the time! Businesses and schools close, towns roll up their sidewalks it seems if there is a hint of ice.
I do know that we're above sea level... I'm just not sure exactly how far above. I'll try to look that up. |

Believe this or not, but in the Ottawa, Ontario area where I live, Sunday, we had the pleasure of having (with the wind of course) a -47 C day. Today, it got up to +3 and currently we are getting wet snow flurries. Bearing in mind the cold snap in WInnipeg, and considering the prevailing west wind, one can bet that we will be in the freezer again in a few days.
To answer one question, NOPE, we aren't nuts, we just can't afford to go anywhere else.
For you folks who don't understand Celsius, at -40, the temperatures are the same.,,,,,,,,,,,, very very cold

Anybody want to shovel snow? We have about 10 inches so far and it's expected to snow 1 to 2 inches an hour for the next 20 hours...or so they say. ? I know I'm fighting a losing battle trying to get the driveway cleared. big sigh. Back to work! :(

My shot is rather boring, but it is proof that my small little town in Texas got snow as well.
(me runs out to catch more snowflakes on his tongue)

Spent from jan 03 to feb 04 in montreal - so I know all about shovelling snow, and yes, while both suck, I'd take +40 over -40 anyday.
On the down side, the whole white christmas thing was really great. There's nothing like a snowball to the back of the head to put you in the festive mood :P.
Unfortunately, I only got my digital camera a week before I left montreal - so there I can't post much in the way of my winter experiences - but here's an example of something that you northern hemispherians probably take for granted but which facinates the heck of the average aussie.

Oh you are so lucky...
Where I live (Not too far from Tel Aviv, Israel) I think it never really snowed. Ever... Well, at least not as long as I live here, which is about... hmm... let's see... 25 years?
Maybe just a frozen rain drops once in a million years or so, but never a real snow. Right now it's about 10 degrees celcius here. Above zero. Naturally...
You would probably think that's silly but one of my top 10 wishes in life is to be somewhere at Christmess where it'll snow on me.
In the meantime all I have is your amazing photos...
