I knew that would get your attention...

While I have it, would you mind taking a look at and give me your opinion on these two images?

The first one is also my first attempt at creating a pleasing Selective Desaturation, the second is a straight B&W conversion. Are these images something you would like to see in a book, on a wall or anywhere else or are they just pee poor examples of a hack?

I like the 2nd one. The tires create an interesting line, the tones are rich.
On the desat, if looks like there is a little color bleed on the back tire and the front light, but at this size it's hard to tell and could be an optical illusion. It might look good as a full b/w also but that depends on why you decided to process it the way you did. Is there anything special about that particular car that sets it apart from the others?
As one hack to another, fine job.

It is an optical illusion. Even with everything in color, that illusion comes up. It was a clear sky extremely sunny day when I took that shot, the light reflected off the shiny car body sort of blurring the line between the car body and the fender. If I blew that portion up you would see that the illusion is entirely on the car body and doesn't cross onto the fender.

The thing that sets that car apart, in my hack opinion, is that it was the only red vehicle in the line up and it was in the perfect spot. The vehicle right in front of it is turning onto that main road and the line of cars, including the red one are being stopped by a 'traffic cop' to make way for the lead car. It was just one of those things where everything just seemingly lined up perfectly.

The only thing that I am not extremely happy about is that the 'traffic cop' can't be seen as he is obscured by the line of cars. The effect of the 'Red Stop Car' would be stronger with the 'traffic cop' standing out front with his hand being held up.

I, on the whole, like them. Whilst I would not hang them on my wall, I could definitely see the second being popular. The first is an interesting take, and the red is surprising on a car like that. The thing I do not like about that shot, is the people in shorts and with tripods around the cars. The cars themselves have a wonderful nostalgic feel, but the modern people break that ambiance.

I can crop the old guy with his cane out of the image and also crop out the guy wearing Khaki pants that could be seen as a pair of shorts, due to the light reflected off his left leg. Unfortunately, I would end up losing the ratio for printing the image out to fit into an off the shelf 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10 frame.

Thank you for your comments.

The first one: crop the left side to lose the people. THe cars have a vintage feel, but the people destroy it. You can always put the cropped inmage into a new image of 5x7 or whatnot and have it printed - and then cut off the white borders on the print. The desat loses it for me because it is very deep inthe pic, very bright, looks to bleending out/fuzzy and the fenderas are stil b&w.

The second one is blown out on the radiator. That draws my eye, and overall it seems to be too clean, too sharp. I thought that would be a good thing, but my mind is used to seeing old b&w images of cars of this vintage, and they are not nearly this nice.
