I'm so excited, I just joined the Rebel gang :) Those Canon rebates along with the Ritz $100 gift card made it impossible to resist. Now I guess the glass obsession begins! So far I love it and am entering my 1st challenge with it. |

congrats. it's easiest to sell your children right away, rather than to fret over it for a long time and not get any L glass :)

Sell the kids, the dog and the car. You're going to need to $$$ once you taste L glass. LOL!
BTW, welcome to the team!

I'm sure somebody will buy a slighly used kid, even at 30. ;) Should at least pay for the 70-200 f/4 L. LOL! BTW, that's an awesome piece of glass. I also LOVE my 17-40 f/4 L. Those two are the best purchases I ever made. If you like wide angle shots, the 17-40 is really great.
Enjoy the new camera!

Oh yeh, the 70-200 f/4L is a very nice lens. For macro, depends what you really want to shoot. For static (non-escaping) subjects, you could use, say, the 50/1.8 and extension tubes. Plenty of magnification, but need to be very close. For maintaining greater subject distance, I highly recommend the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro USM. The Sigma 105 Macro and Tamron 90 Macro are also excellent, but I feel the build quality, USM (full-time manual focus) and switchable focus range are all points in favor of the Canon. I might be biased ;)
The only downside to the Canon macro is that the lens hood is sold separately (#&^**@*#&@*$$!!) and costs about $40.
