A friend of mine gave me this camera last night. It's a Polaroid Land Camera Automatic 100. I think it's a 4x5. Does anyone know anything about this camera? I would like to try it out. I may be able to use it to do some polaroid transfers if I can get it to work. It uses a really oddball battery that I'm not sure if I'll be able to find or not.

Wow! My dad had one wayyy back when he still had his portrait studio in the 70's, I would watch him pull the film out after a shot press on a timer then peel the thing off to reveal a photo when the alarm went off. He might still have that camera stowed somewhere in the basement. What do you need to know? I'll ask him.

Well, first of all, I need to know if I can still buy a battery for it. It uses this thing called a "Eveready 531 4.5v" battery. I have never even seen a battery that looks like this. I am fairly sure that I can still buy film for it.
Operating the camera seems pretty straight forward. It has a rangefinder style focus viewer and the camera is fairly automatic in all other aspects. I have the manual and a flash for it as well, so, I suppose if I can get a battery and a pack of film I can actually see if it works. There is some film in it but there is no telling how old it is.

I have one as well. LOL!
My dad was an avid photographer, and had many different cameras over the years. I think it's where I got my need to be a photographer.
Here's me with one of his many toys:
I've never tried using it, even had a HECK of a time just trying to close it after opening it for the first time. I never even thought the film might still be available for it. I'll have to try it to.
Maybe we can have a challenge for photographers that have this camera. Could be interesting.
I've also just tracked down his old Leica 35mm camera, which went missing many years ago. Turned out it was loaned to a distant cousin who lived in Italy. He passed away last year and his widow just called us to tell us she found our camera is his belongings. She's going to send it to me. I have no idea which model, but hey!, it's a Leica.

I won't even be able to determine if this one works until I can get a battery for it. I do know that the battery in it is completely dead. This battery controls the shutter mechanism so I can't even test fire the shutter yet.

John, I bought 3 of these Polaroid SX-70 sonar land camera at an estate sale for 5 bucks. I bought them in hopes of having a few people go shoot with me but I don't have any takersâ€Â¦lol You most likely know these cameras are used for photo manipulation. I am keeping the black one but I will gladly send one of the others your way. The batteries are in the film packs. I get my film at a local camera shop and accessories can be found on e-bay. If you are interested PM me your address.

//www.collectible-treasures.com/catalog/items/item1891.htm This link showed what seemed to be the camera you mentioned and made mention of an instruction manual. Perhaps you could inquire with them. Best of luck.
