It's not the same thing at all and you know it. By saying statements like this, that have no meaning or logical comparison, you are pacifying terrorists and terrorism. I think it's irresponsible to do that.

First of all, I'm not a pacifist. I've never claimed to be. For me, war is a last resort, and the UN should be involved.

What I meant by the statstical comparison was that in the current US vs. terrorism war, the most innocent civilians have been killed by the US. Whether or not you believe that was done for good reasons or bad, it's the truth.

I will never agree that the deaths of civilians justify the deaths of more civilians. This is why I oppose both terrorists, and the current wars that are fought to end terrorism. Considering that al-Qaida have recently hit Saudi Arabia and Morocco with multiple, co-ordinated bomb attacks, and there have been smaller terrorist attacks in Pakistan, there is no sign that war is solving the terrorist issue.

I think we should all go back to the UN and work together, globally, to solve the issue. We should work on easing poverty and improving education and prosperity around the world so that there are no longer so many people willing to fight on the terrorists' side (as President Arroyo of the Phillipines recently said to Bush herself). We should work on making peace in warring regions and helping countries to rebuild themselves instead of imposing western style nation building on them.

So comforting to know that so many people believe in the UNITED States and the democratic values it supposedly stands for...Deck of Weasels

LOL, I love it, the "Deck of Weasels". Well it's sooo true. It's unbelievable the message all of those "weasels" are sending to terrorist orgainizations around the World which is "We the USA are wrong and deserve your hatred and deserve to be attacked by you.". What the weasels don't understand is that when a dirty bomb explodes in Hollyweird, CA., it won't descriminate between Martin Sheen and Mr. Non-Weasel. Bet Marty and the rest of them didn't think of that. ;)

You said originally that "the last major terrorist event was caused by a Christain". And OKC was 8 years ago. Since then there have been 100 terrorist events caused by non-Christains so what was your original point?

OKC wasd the last major terrorist event in the US before 9/11

Geocide, are you insane? Again, I'm asking you to state what you consider racist about my remarks. This is the SECOND time you've called me racist but have NOT elaborated when asked. Why don't you shut your mouth unless you are willing to expain comments and accusations?

IDOL-IRAQ

Order out of chaos...

The reports from Iraq are not good. The defeated Baath party has been forming a new secret organization. There's a report that Hezbollah terrorists now have a branch in Baghdad. At night, thieves and bandits roam unchecked.

As a result, the process of electing leaders has been delayed until July. Not that there's a shortage of politicians -- by one account there are about 30 parties in Baghdad -- it's just that lot of them also have their own armed militias.

Iraq desperately needs a process whereby wanna-be politicians can be vetted, interviewed, given a chance to show their stuff, and finally put before the voters in a decisive and uplifting national election.

And I know of only one American institution that can pull it off. One institution with a proven ability to create order out of chaos.

Fox.

Look at the record -- when Fox put out the call for singers last January, 70,000 people lined up outside various hotels. You saw them. Many of them were EXTREMELY scary. But was Fox deterred? No. They confronted them with a panel of ruthless interrogators who quickly rejected the morons and extremists. And they kept at it, week after week, never losing hope. Until finally, last night, 24 million people -- which coincidentally is about the population of Iraq -- peacefully cast their votes.

It was close. Ruben won by only .28 per cent; passions ran high. But Clay was magnanimous in defeat, no one went to court, everybody's happy, and most important, IT'S OVER.

No wonder Fox is Don Rumsfeld's favorite network.

I just came in to see why this thread has got 30 pages going for it.
But I found hatred and criticism and it hurts so i'm outta here and never return. Dont bother replying this posting either, coz I wont know if anyone replied :) Cheers!

Humans killing humans. When will we see the fact that we're all on this tiny rock floating in space and we go down together if this little rock decides to retire? We'll need space invaders to keep us working together someday! LOL

Hey guys,

This is probably the last time I'll ever post in this thread (it hasn't really gone anywhere lately, has it :P). My bet is that anyone who sees this come back up into the recent threads box and actually opens it to see what I've posted is probably fairly interested in politics and political debate. Just maybe :).

If so, there's another web board I frequent that's purely about politics and social issues at Upsize This!. Most of the people who post there used to be members of the bulletin board at Michael Moore's website, which was taken down earlier this year (the bulletin board, not the site). Back in the days of the MMBB, there actually used to be a large diversity of opinions, because Michael Moore's site attracted as many detractors as it did fans. However, most of the people who regrouped on the new site are centre or left wing types, and the thing is... we're stagnating a bit. There isn't enough argument over the bigger issues to keep people interested. It's actually not all that much fun to talk to people you mostly agree with all the time. A lot of arguments are breaking out over infighting and personal issues.

Now, I know the conservative posters here will likely find that funny. Maybe you would enjoy watching us implode. But then, on the other hand, maybe you'd like to get over there and argue politics with some very knowledgable people. Either way, it would be nice if some of you would sign up and inject some new life into that place.

If that happens, I promise I'll start submitting photos here again! Deal?

(I'm going to anyway, when I get some free time :P).

Back in the good old days when I was a volunteer at a free clinic, we used to joke that whenever the "liberals" got together to form a firing squad, they did so in a circle ... pointing inwards ....

Welcome back!

Yeah welcome back and start posting your challenge pics! I'm still working on getting a ribbon... If I ever do, I'll make a post here in this thread agreeing with you. :)

I may check out your website, but all the "ranting" in the World rarely changes people's opinions on political items like this. But it's still fun most of the time.

Stay annonymous like you are. :) lol.

Lol. That's the point! There's no one to defend the other side :P.

But seriously, most of the posters there are Americans. They're just on the left side of the fence. But if you don't want to post, that's OK.

I'm so busy right now that I have to stay shackled to my computer to get work done, and arguing about politics is how I let off steam. When I finally get to go out and take photos, I'll submit to DPC again :).

They would hate me there. :) LOL, I know how those places work (cause I've been there before on both sides being in the majority and not), and a new comer with an opposing view is hammered by the regulars. Does wonders for the blood pressure. :D

I may anyway but like you, no time lately. Even keeping up with the photo challenges these days is tough (summer, work load, this and that), but it may be fun anyway. Well if I do post you'll probably know it's me. :D
