Found this python curled up on a branch getting some sun in the Botanical Gardens here in Brisbane, Australia.

He (she?) looks quite relaxed! I like the composition, but I'd like to see less reflection to show more of the skin coloring.

Tried using my Photoshop skills (well I'm just learning so I don't really know what I'm doing yet) to improve the image.
I think this is better, what do you think?

He looks too relaxed. I'm not saying he is, but he looks dead. You have to do what the Ol' Croc Hunter does and wave your arms, talk real loud and spray spit on him a lot. That will get his attention.

That's a GREAT shot. The AFTER is much better and has much better coloring. I studied snakes for a long time and have had a few myself (until one had a run in with my sister's chihuahua, but that's another story) -- so anyway, I have a lot of snake books -- and that looks like a picture you'd see in the book.

No he's not dead :) but he was VERY relaxed.
Now I'm no expert on snakes and this one is probably non-venomous but here in Australia we have a healthy respect for wild snakes and do everything we can to keep them happy (Steve Irwin aside of course).
Things is, his zoo is about 50km up the road from me - maybe I should have brought him along and he could have roused the snake for me :) |

Nice shot of the snake, good bokeh too! Now go take some pics at Steve's zoo and post them. He always makes me smile when I watch him (such energy), and from what I saw in his shows, he's got a cool zoo.
