Since I missed this opportunity for photography I'd be happy to design it.

For those of you who want to do the design, post some examples here so we can see when you get something ready... Just leave blocks where the photos will go...

How so? I think the individual interpretations will make for some interesting photos :)

I've started on a first rough draft for a layout, but I have to go to work at 5am tomorrow so I probably won't be able to post anything until late Saturday.

Note that according to Drew's DPCP update, we may be able to offer a larger final size if you want.

I think 24x36 would be fine. The next larger size is not the same ratio and 24x36 and 16x24 are easy to get frames for.

Es muy bueno, gracias.

This post probably doesn't belong here but I didn't know where else to put it. I know my work is nowhere near what you're looking for (so I'm not asking to join the project) but I wanted to know how you selected these people to participate. Forgive me if that's a stupid question as I joined this topic late in the game and I didn't see the previous post by Jon. Thanks!

I asked for volunteers and then I chose the ones I thought best fit the theme of the project based on their geographical location.

Ahh gotcha, thanks for the update. And I apologize for mangling your name. I just checked and it's John not Jon. Sorry about that!

Really??? Where I live it's quite flat.... :-)

2 Bottomless vales and boundless floods,
2 And chasms, and caves, and Titan woods,
2 With forms that no man can discover
2 For the tears that drip all over;

The geographical locations I chose were based on international participation rather than actual landscape opportunities :)

Hmmm ... not amny real opinions being offered about this, huh?

The first and obvious and surely most common one is why place the poem in such an urban setting? I mean, sure, there's an immediate parallel - and of course, arguably, there's a greater significance in relating the words to an urban nightmare landscape than a natural one: indeed one could make a strong case for a 'big business ignores the portents of environmental destruction' meaning to it. But ... is it not perhaps as much about the fear of a man presented with the power of the natural world, and I mean the power to possess, and to threaten, and to up-heave, as it is a simple nightmare story?

Any thoughts?

"Thule" means the northern-most habitable place, so I too was surprised to see that you interpreted it as an urban area, which suggests a rather habitable area which has been well developed. Also the rest of the poem talks about mountains, rivers, etc, so I'm interested in why you chose a city?

I agree... We share a similar paragraph, I see mine as the arrival, the first glimps. I have a cunning plan but I will need to do some travelling to find my location.

Indeed... I interpret the first and last stanza as an entry into dreamland and the exit from it...

Went out yesterday to see what I could get for Dreamland, unfortunatly after 2 days of rain and storms the weather cleared as I arrived at my location :(. You see I wanted heavy black clouds swirling Oh well.

I have 4 photos I would like your opinions of, I have mine but I'd really like to hear from you guys first.

My words
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule-
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of SPACE- out of TIME.

I stress these are first shots so I'd really like some feedback, they don't meet with my imagined shot that I would like for my dreamland photo but I do have a favorite.

I like this one (Beach-3) best, fits somewhat the general "feel" of the poem. That lonely branch seems apt, somehow.
However all of them are too bright and sunny, as you mentioned yourself.
I also don't see any obvious connection to your lines.

I have a cunning plan my lord Black Adder for my shot. I have the approximate setup in my mind, now I just need to scout for location. I have a few spots in mind.

For me its number 4..
but I feel that for the final submission, this needs to be a bit darker and moodier

I really like this image and I will re edit it with the poem in mind, give it some grunt.

What do you all think?
