Let's get rid of the automated "Outtakes" threads!

We made them automated because everyone created their own.

I'm guessing they will experience greater use (at least by me) with the advent of the new "upload directly to the thread" button. They don't hurt anything other than dropping previous threads one slot lower ...

Good point, Barry. But I'd be willing to wager the number of empty forum posts is far higher than the number of ones actually used. I wonder if there's a way for the automated ones to disappear if not used within a reasonable time frame? Sounds like a coding issue that might be more trouble than it's worth though.

The bigger issue with why I don't use these is that there's no "temporary" or "vanishing" repository for outtake images such that you can share them without having to use up valuable portfolio drive space. It rarely seems worth it to upload outtakes unless I intend them to become part of my portfolio long-term.

I hear that! I just put them in an 'Outtake' folder in my Workshop and delete them after a while.

That seems like a good workaround for the personal site storage limit issue. But I've been reluctant to do that more than with occasional workshop images and private-thread DPL shares because I think when I do this it ends up leaving the forum threads I've contributed to littered with a bunch of image placeholder links that go nowhere. Which just feels like bad community citizenship to me.

Not sure there actually is a good "fix" that satisfies everything. But your suggestion is a reasonable workaround for now.
