When I read your statement that B&W doesn't work well for landscapes I wondered whether you had ever seen pictures by, say, Ansel Adams? :)

I think lots of images can work very well in B&W provided they cover all the zones.

Whether u like it or not in b/w is just personal preference... Black and White is one of my favorite modes :)
