I’ve never had either shot.

I feel fine.

*neck twitches violently*

Did you ever have covid?
We had it and took Paxlovid We tested negative after 2 weeks and two days later we tested positive again. We were house bound for over a month. I usually don't worry about vaccines but I can't stay in for a month again.

An important note about vaccines, however they are made or administered:

Most vaccines are not (and are not intended to be) 100% protective against catching the targeted disease, but they are typically highly effective at preventing serious symptoms, hospitalization, and death, and they probably lower the chance of you passing it on to someone else if you do get sick.

I have lots more information if anyone has questions.

Can you confirm if I’m flying? I have the shot and I wear a mask. Is that pretty safe?

If you're referring to Covid I think it takes about 2 weeks for the vaccine to reach full effectiveness, and it should remain at that level for at least several months.

N95 or KN95 masks are pretty effective if you adjust it to fit and keep it on (at least almost all the time); "surgical" or "procedure" masks are significantly less effective.

ETA: I think the same applies to other adult respiratory viruses: flu, RSV, etc., and I guess to bacteria (e.g. pneumonia) as well.

You had the shot. You wear a good mask. Don't worry. If you do get sick, it likely won't be as bad as last time because you've had the vaccine. But you're probably going to be fine.

My doctor says if you get Covid you're protected for about 4 months, and if you get the vaccine you're protected for just about the same. Keep on keepin' on.

thank you both, your notes are very informative. I haven’t really worried about this in a couple of years.

I got it when it first came out.

Was tired and had a headache and cough for 3-4 days. I just stayed on the sofa and watched tv. Happy for the days off from cooking. Hunby did not get it.

I also got it once on a cruise ship. The only reason I self -tested is because I had a headache and I almost never get a headache. That was my only symptom.

Since I’d gotten it on the ship (I’d guess about a third of us had it by the way everyone was coughing), I just stayed in my stateroom as much as possible for five days.

Got both, same day, same arm. I mean, if you're gonna go in, go ALL in, right?

That arm is always sore, so didn't even notice that part (it's the one I broke years ago), and felt a little "blah" for about an hour.

Because I was military, we had to get flu shots every year - they're very much a non-event for me now. I did end up getting COVID once. It was horrible. I did not die, apparently, so that part is good! (There is the highly unlikely possibility that I DID die, and am now a zombie, but I have no strong desire to eat brains, so I think I can rule that out.)

I am hoping that the mRNA research will continue somewhere (probably not here anymore) because of the possible use as a treatment for cancer.

Yes, I read that too, I sincerely hope that it will be a breakthrough as it was for Covid.
There is hope, the insanity cannot last forever!
