Hey guys. I was just wondering why there aren't any multiple exposures on this site. I have a canon rebel xs (not digital) and i love taking multiple exposures on it. I'de love to see some here!

You'll need to up-load to a "Pbase" type account or something.

Actually, they do, but for the vast majority of us it is a temporary one, assigned by the ISP when you connect. You'd also have to be running web server software (built-in on most recent Macs, and I think on PCs too) to allow access. A hypothetical url to a file on my disk would be
//179.117.211.84/D:/00FotoFolder/08_deviantART/Sunset-23.jpg
The funny-looking number would be the IP address assigned to my computer when I established my current connection. It will change each time I disconnect and re-connect. If I were running a server (and that were the correct IP address) you could put that in your browser and view the file from my disk.
Such accessibility/addressability the basis of peer-to-peer file sharing (Napster). If you purchase a static IP address (business-level DSL) and have server software you can run your own website right from the computer in your house -- no hosting service necessary.

a couple of different sites have tutorials. I found these using a search in google for multiple exposures:
//www.halley.cc/ed/linux/multexp/index.html
//www.carlvolk.com/photoshop22.htm
//www.acdsystems.com/English/Community/ColumnsArticles/TechTips/tech-2002-01-16.htm
The second link is probably what you're looking for specifically. I actually was reading a tutorial just last night on multiple exposures and bookmarked it but do you think I can find it anymore?? Of course not. The basic premise is taking pictures of a scene multiple times with different exposure settings to capture the shadows, midtones, and highlights to their best effect and then combining the pictures using photoshop (and assorted ilk) using layers - masking and unmasking as necessary to build a gorgeous shot.
(BTW: I learned alot about chemical exposures, radiation exposures, and some website of about twins during my 10 minutes of searching for these links. I recommend the journey.:) )

My camera doesn't have the ability to take multiple exposure shots. Tis frustrates me alot; it was one of my favorite techniques with my old film camera. The effect can easily be achieved with photoshop (and it usually looks better anyway, but unfortunately it is against the rules for the challenges on this site. |

Which doesn't mean we can't explore its use outside of the challenges. |

of course not! :) most of work I do is more "art" than photo and consists of layers upon layers of different styles of art. It would be nice to do that sort of thing for a challenge on here sometimes as well though. |

If you want to see a neat multiple exposure, take a look at my Peek a Boo! entry in the Where's Waldo challenge. I sent a tutorial to langdon, but it hasn't been posted in the How'd They Do That section yet.
