Maybe a change is in store for the future. I generally shoot with my trusted Cannon. Now I am thinking of also shooting with my cell phone. The imagery looks pretty close to pro quality shots, between computational photography, multi lens systems, on camera editing not to mention the ease of it.
I have noticed presently we have 3 front page smartphone image winners.
A favorite is enclosed and there are many more really great photographs.
Does anyone have a recommended phone, application or opinion?

I agree!

I almost exclusively shoot with my cellphone for entries.

Unless it’s a setup shot and I’m at home.

What are you shooting with and how are you editing.

A good smartphone camera is an essential part of a photographer's tool kit nowadays. It's always at hand and quick to use. Often, I'll find myself taking photos with both my "good" camera and the phone. Usually, the phone to get a quick grab of the scene / subject, then dial in with the regular camera.

I re gently got an iPhone 17. The cameras are quite good. I edit with the software that comes on the phone.

There is a free version of Ohotoshop for phones, but I haven’t tried it.

Thank you Lydia,
I just got the iPhone 17 pro max.
I will checkout Photo Shop for phones and I want to checkout Snap Seed.
Funny because when I read Barry's note I used to always take with my cell phone and then with my camera same scene. It is looking more and more like I can sometimes just use my cell phone and get a pretty good shot to enter.

I wanted the iPhone 17 Pro. My old phone died completely. However the iPhone was way out of my budget here where I live. So I got myself another Samsung Ultra: the S25 Ultra at 60% of what the iPhone 17 Pro Max would have been. I mostly shoot and process on the phone. I used Snapseed which I recommend wholeheartedly. I also use Lightroom on the phone with the advantage that I can take over on the computer as well. I also just installed on the phone a full version of PS with layers and all the goodies. I yet have to try it.

Overall is all mobile... never have thought of

I have to agree: Snapseed is an incredible gem of freeware. I use it regularly and fail to understand how Lightroom mobile (the free version anyway) competes with it. If you have an Android tablet (i.e., larger screen), it's even better.

I like how this comment promoting the use of a phone shows the down side of working on a phone.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve edited nearly all my current entries and the last few which have ended all on Snapseed. I’ve taken 80% of my photos using my Google pixel 10 pro on our current holiday and the rest with my camera. And I’m loving it!
