Was out shooting the other day and my camera started acting funky.

I was carrying the Sony A7RIII / Sony 24-105 setup on a rapid sling strap. Had taken photos earlier and all was fine. Then, at some point, the camera went into manual mode, raw format, and some other settings I can't remember now. I went into the menu settings and it wouldn't let me change the format to raw + jpg, couldn't change the ISO, the date was reset to factory settings, the list goes on. Couldn't change anything using the FN button.

Tried turning it off, pulling the battery, with no luck.

Finally on a hunch I took the lens off and reseated it. Voila! I guess I bumped it just right to loosen the lens mount at some point?

10 minutes of a wide range of emotions (fear, anger the two big hitters!).

Not fun. But a lesson on what to check first if I ever get in this situation again. :-)

Yikes!

I'm glad you're still healthy. :D

(Happened to me recently. Not fun.)

I have been in a similar situation and experienced the same range of emotions. Sometimes I really wish the camera's interfaces could provide more clear and accurate information on the possible source of a problem. Glad you gotta it cleared up.

I'm glad you're alive. I haven't had any heart attacks since my open-heart surgery in 2017 at least. Not that I know of. Haha. "Live long and prosper" to all the cameras! :)

Glad you were able to fix it. Thanks for the tip.
The other day my Auto Focus wasn't working for awhile. I thought the whole camera broke. I used manual focus for awhile and finally it picked back up. I have been thinking I should take it in for cleaning.
