Bought this set of tubes since none of my lenses are capable of decent macro work alone (50/1.8, kit lens and 70-200/4). Won't get them for another couple of weeks and I'm very curious of how they will work. Does anybody have examples of photos done with these things?

I have exactly the same set, and use them frequently. They're a bargain (compared to a much more expensive macro lens, anyway)!
Here's my entry from the macro challenge:
(These chess pieces are actually pretty tiny).
The penalty that you pay is that the light reduction can mean you have to use much longer exposures. Also, you may well find that autofocus no longer works reliably (with such a narrow DOF, you generally wind up using manual anyway).

Is there any significant difference between the Kenko, Canon, etc tubes? From a quick look at adorama is seems that Canon will work on EF-S but Kenko only on EF. Is that so?
On a slightly different track: What about teleconverters, does Canon offer any better glass over the 3rd parties? i.e. Sigma, Kenko, Tamron, Vivitar, etc? Or am I just as well saving some and buying 3rd party?

I've got this exact set also, except for Nikon mount. They work great with my Nikkor 50mm/1.8 lens.
Challenge entries I've taken with this combination:

When I got my set for use with my Canon 10D, I posted some samples on this thread: //www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=114807
Check it out if you are interested.

I also have a couple of samples taken with my Tamron 90mm macro, Canon 50/1.8 and Canon 17-40L to illustrate the kind of magnification to expect:
