Since I got some equipment I thought I'd try putting it to good use learning more about lighting. I also thought that I'd devote some of my time to pursueing directed studies rather than just whatever whim hits my fancy at any given moment. I figured a longitudinal study of one topic and exploration of my view of said topic would give me some good idea of how I learn, explore and change over the next couple of years as a photographer.
With that in mind, here's what I shot last night in my home "studio". What do you folks think?
Thanks for the comments/critiques,
Kev
P.S.- The subject matter I chose as one of my studies is women's feet fasions. I wanted something feminine since I expect that'll have the best opportunity to capture my interest and while I've also selected other "feminine" subjects to devote time to working with, the shoes where the one thing I had on hand and needed no one to "model" just to test the lighting.

the two with the white BG - the 1st seems a bit purple, the 2nd a bit grey. same lighting - same exposure - same lense?
i wonder why that is. what white balance do you use with the 'real' studio lights?
ahh - if you could only see my 'studio' ;}

Pretty good for first attempts. You might want to consider getting a profile in the frame or at least 3/4 to show the heel. |
