I went to enter a challenge but realized I needed to be a member first.
I was part of this community many many years ago, lost track of it and then recently decided to check in.
Back in the day there were no memberships. There also were hundreds and hundreds, if not even more than that of submissions.
Now I am seeing maybe around 20-45 submissions per challenge.
I truly am not trying to be rude but just trying to figure out what happened.
Is the membership worth it?

I believe you can also get a one-month "trial" membership for $5 USD.
There is one free ("Open") challenge/week, and two member-only challenges, as well as two monthly challenges. Paid membership also gives you on-site Portfolio space, making it far easier to post images which are not challenge entries (e.g. posting "outtakes" to ask if they'd have scored better).
And welcome back! |

I asked myself the same question. Then I decided to join again to keep working on my creativity level in photography. I look at it as more of an investment in my skills. Not a bad price to pay considering how much $$$ I've already put into my gear lol |

Even with fewer entries than in the past, each week brings many images to enjoy and multiple opportunities to participate (enter challenges, vote, get international feedback, participate in discussions, post non-challenge pictures, browse galleries, and more). For less than 7 cents per day, the cost is hardly worth a second thought. |

Member since 2009 - I only remember a membership fee of $25 - still the same - gives you unlimited access - 24/7 - less that 3 Starbucks - 2.5 fast food meals - whatever your vice is - this site - has given me the greatest gift of learning my craft - inspiration - collaboration - creativity - the rules, the interaction - I love it - even when Im not as active - Im still here. |

What you get out of it depends on what you put into it and what your expectations are. |

My short answer is "yes".
For me, the challenges are an invitation to try something new, and without DPC I would be much less active in pursuing photography.
Seeing the entries of others offers new ideas on how to approach a topic/task/challenge. |
