Hi Mike, I second dipage's suggestion about Stone Mountain (she beat me to the punch). While you're out in that direction, you might head over to Athens, GA and the University of GA, especially if there is a football game that weekend. There will be a lot going on besides the actual game that might be good subject matter for your camera. Also, Hartsfield Intl. Airport might be interesting. As for Atlanta itself, just the people. Maybe take a ride on MARTA (the rapid transit system) and go from there.
Hope you enjoy your trip. Post some photos when you get back.

thatcloudthere, Centennial Olympic Park is a great place to be for people shots, the fountains, etc. Piedmont Park is also good in that regard. I took this at Piedmont Park: //titoi.com/people/DSCN6212.html

Some of my favourite bands are from Athens...

I hope to get some time for photos as I will be spending the chunk of my time at a youth worker's conference...

Thanks for the tips, everyone...

...except giega and terje...smartasses!

A car. Seriously - if you want to get anywhere outside of downtown, you'll need a car. MARTA won't get you very far.

The leaves are turning here this week. Try to get to the Chattahoochee Nature Center and Park up in Roswell. Centennial Park (downtown) is nice. The architecture all up Peachtree Street is pretty cool.

For things to do in the evenings/at night, pick up a copy of Creative Loafing (the free weekly) and flip through it.

What in the world is wrong with treasure or Hooters? I'm sure Terje was talking about the restaurant. *smug grin* Great wings.

If you have the time may I suggest ruby falls in Chattanooga, TN., It is amazing. Ruby Falls is a 145 ft. waterfall 1,120 feet underground. An elevator takes you down 260 ft. to the Ruby Falls cave. You then walk a half-mile, with stops along the way, into the mountain to see the waterfall itself. The Civil War relics are in the Lower Lookout Mountain Cave below the Ruby Falls Cave. The Lower Cave was used as a Confederate hospital, and the only other item of interest is Andrew Jackson's signature carved into one of the rocks down there.
Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN is around 118 miles away, well worth the trip. Not to mention the drive there. Wonderful autumn colors this time of year.
