Actually, i think the statement has been in the past that just because a majority might want something doesn not mean that it will be automatically implemented.
If we ignored the "general citizens' wishes" the SC's job would be a heck of a lot easier 'cuz we could just do whatever we wnated, whenever we wanted. :)
