Greetings...

I would like to maintain a list of various types of juried photo contests in this thread. I will update this post with additional contests as I find them. If you are aware of any others, please feel free to post them and I will modify this initial post to include them. I encourage everyone here to enter any or all of these contests, specifically the ones where you submit prints instead of digital images.

Excellent Idea!

David I̢۪ve entered several of my DPC photo̢۪s in Art shows here and they get in. So far I haven̢۪t gotten a ribbon with a photograph but who knows. I have a feeling a lot of the photo̢۪s here would do good in art exhibits that are juried. Take the Poverty Challenge, I think a lot of them would do quite well, even Ribbon. They show a pathos that is sought after in most of these shows.
I think DPC is great for honing your skills as a photographer and then it is up to us to put it to use as an Artist.

I think that is about the best one-sentence summation I have heard in a long time.

This is a great idea, John! I would simply add that anyone coming across such contests or exhibitions post information here.

Am I correct in assuming you want competitions that are open to everyone not just those that reside in particular geographic locations?

I came across this one if anyone's interested:

//www.touchstonegallery.com

the info is on the left hand side: 7th annual all media juried...

Looks like an awesome gallery:)

Great idea for a thread John - thanks for thinking of it.

I thought about this too. Some of the ones I have listed are open to US residents only, but I have tried to exclude the ones that are more exclusive than that. I have come across some that are open to only members of some group and participants within a certain state. I would probably rather list exhibitions that are open to at least a full country, whether it be US or other. I'm gonna try to organize this list a little more comprehensively with some more detail later.

This is listed under the rules of the Smithsonian contest..

"Cropped photos are eligible, but those that have been digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered are not."

It doesn't go into any detail. I suppose it would be like our basic editing rules?

How would they know if it has been digitally enhanced or done in a darkroom? Jerkish snobs! (C:

It describes what they mean more in the faq... things like levels, dodge, burn, etc are acceptable.

For those of you who do weddings, I added a link to the bottom of the list for a contest that may be of interest to you...
