I need something similar to DPCPrints ... but without all the overhead.

I've taken a bunch of sports related pictures and would like to offer them to the kids and parents for purchase. I don't want or expect to make a lot of money... but I wouldn't mind a little be of profit off of each print sold.

I won't even consider DPCPrints for this because I have around 600 pictures to post. Imagine the overhead of posting and getting each one of those approved for sale!

A place like Ofoto.com doesn't make sense either because I don't want it to be a "by invitation only" kind of site. These pictures aren't really meant for the public (nobody outside of the kids and their parents are going to care about these pictures), and yet with so many kids and parents, I don't want to have to preregister them. The site needs to be open to let anyone that knows about it enter in and make a purchase.

So... does anyone know of a site where I can upload lots of pictures, provide a URL to people to see the pictures, and let them purchase the prints while giving me a small kickback?

Thanks for any advice!

I know of some people that hired photogaphers for their weddings and they used this site photoreflect

And someone else I know took photos for his kids and some games as well used another site as soon as I find it I will post it for you.

Greetings,
Depending on your budget, SmugMug would fit your needs I think, check them out at www.smugmug.com

Hmmm... photoreflect looks interesting (I like the professional nature of it), except that it looks like it works better if you are set up to handle your own printing needs. (I have a friend who has a professional printer but no "sales" website ... this would probably be perfect for him!)

Meanwhile, dotphoto looks easy and cheap to get started. But smugmug seems a bit more professional (and pricey too).

So I'm a little undecided, but am leaning towards smugmug at the moment.

Any other thoughts or recommendations?

Wait for DPCPrints 2... reading between the lines in this thread, it seems like D&L are planning this sort of feature for the next revision.

Unfortunately it is taking a lot longer than anticipated... not only because it is such a major overhaul of DPCPrints, but also because they have "real jobs" which have been very demanding lately.

Lots of real pros use photoflect. If you are basically giveing away your pictures that or one like it would be ideal for you. I prefer to do my own prints but there is alot of work that comes with it. With any of those services you have to upload all your pictures in print quality. All I upload is my generated pages with small photos. I use startlogic for $7.50 a month(paid by the year) and generat my pages with breeze browser. I use the pay pal model and you MUST watermark you photos. People will still steal them but thats about all you can do besides just making them low quality(if you print mine not only will it have my name across the middle but it will look very pixelated). Here is a page from last weekend.

Myself and two colleagues publish our shots on the web with reference numbers, then, to order the shots by filling in a paper orderform and sending it to us with a cheque.

It may sound sightly archaic, but considering a lot of our customers aren't very computer literate it works pretty well. As well as that there's relatively little overhead.

If it has to be done now, don't wait for DPC. If you can wait a little while, we're ironing things out like crazy. If it were ready, I'm sure they would make it available, but every few days I go and break the thing. ;) (sorry)

Also, while we're on topic of DPC "2" - I would like to thank D & L for THEIR patience with my continual breaking of said system. :) It paid off for me last month in a $350.00 order. I'm hoping that type of stuff continues.

Shutterfly has a pro gallery that might suit you, I don't know much about it or how it compares to others, just thought I'd put it out there since they are known for great prints.
