Not to let the cat too far out of the bag, but we're looking for some pros to help consult and test part of the DPCPrints overhaul. Specifically, we're looking for people who shoot weddings and sporting events (races, ball games, recitals, etc.) who would consider using (or already use) an online service to deliver prints to their clients. Aside from personally helping shape the service to meet your requests, you'll also receive a substantial hookup on the service itself. Interested folks should send a brief e-mail to events[at]dpchallenge.com explaining what they could offer to the consulting team in terms of related professional experience, experience with other online services, portfolio diversity, etc.

Following on from this query (I really meant to mention this nearer the time)... Is there any possibility of having a UK print affiliate, like DPCP has for the US?

At the moment myself and colleagues just use a consumer online printers (Jessops) and do all the ordering by hand. I think we'd consider using DPCPrintSvcs.com or whatever, if it was available directly in the UK.

Paul: Not in the foreseeable future. We've just got too much on our plates right now.

Gordon: We're still getting our stuff together, but I plan to email everyone who replied by tomorrow. Sorry for the delay!

It's unlikely you'll hear anything soon ...
1. The current DPC "space issue" needs to be resolved
2. It will likely require creating an entire new site, since the chance of finding a European* supplier offering the same products, prices, and terms as EZPrints is pretty small ...

Perhaps one of you could research European* printing suppliers and scout out the territory for them ... find out who supplies the prints for another online gallery you like or something.

*I am including Great Britain as part of Europe for the purpose of this discussion.

Regarding the DPC space issue -- it's very temporary. We have plenty of space, we just had a problem with web logs getting out of control. However, to give ourselves all the room we need for the future, DPC and our new print project will get a new server within the next 30 days.

Finding the right overseas printer(s) would certainly be a task, though it wouldn't have to line up as exactly on products/prices/terms as GeneralE's post suggests.

It was a joke, I think ... are they using the Euro exclusively yet?

Is that tomorrow in the general 'not today' sense ? :)

I definitely have a large interest in this, considering right now I have around a dozen shots I am going to set up for print on DPCPrints of a model shoot and also have about 3-4 Senior picture sessions coming soon. Anything new with this? Wouldn't mind testing, either.

We will be in touch this week -- no ifs, ands, or buts. If I were you, I wouldn't believe me either... but I really mean it. We've been much further behind than we expected but are finally closing in on something that you can test. Thanks for your patience :)
