Hi,
I've just managed to get Canons remote capture software to work (didn't like something else on my system).
Anyway, I think it is cool with it's time lapse mode, however am troubled that the interface can't be hidden away.
Does anyone know of any webcam like capture software that I can use my G2 like a webcam if I want? I tried Google but can't find anything but reference to the software that comes with the G2.
Thanks much!

There are ways to do it (using the video in and a video capture capable graphics card) but the cameras aren't really designed to have their sensors on for long periods of time like that - so you could end up with heating/ damage (just a maybe)
Probably better spending the $30 for a webcam ? |

Hi Gordon,
Since the included software can take photos over hours or days and since the software says to turn off the powersave mode and plug in it's adaptor I figured that wouldn't be a problem with the thing. :)
But I honestly never gave it any thought, and the risk of breaking something on it is indeed high on my mind now. So maybe I won't do that after all. ;)
Sadly even $30 for a webcam isn't really affordable in the near to midterm future for me, however the repair bill if I break my nice camera I would assume is much less affordable then that. So maybe I'll play it safe and just settle on using a camera as a camera.
Thanks for the reply :)
Cheers!
