I think what he means is high key and low key.... primarily white pictures with white backgrounds or surroundings, and dark pictures/subjects with dark surroundings

I guess it would have a lot to do with lighting in order to make your subject show up.. also with exposure values and what not.
I saw it on another site as a topic. Thought it might be interesting is all.

As much as I like this idea for a challenge, I think it would create a nightmare issue due to improper monitor calibrations...

still sort of an interesting idea. Maybe just "monochrome", but restrict the use of desaturation. I don't think it would be feasible, but it would be pretty cool.
