Just wondering, how would you say you get the same fx from a digital picture in photoshop as you did with a PF on a reflex...?
thanks in advance. |

Since the polarization information isnt recorded by the camera sensor it isnt really possible.
Though you might be able to replicate some of the effects with some work, but others I just don't see how they would be possible. |

A Polarizing Filter is one of the few effects that can't be replecated in Photoshop. Thats because of the way the PF filter cuts out light that is polarized on a diferent angle... the camera CDD can't tell which way the recorded light is polarized and there is no current way to record it digitally....so you cannot edit the information based on its polerization.
However sometimes certain colors record more information than others so look at the different color channels and see if you can find a colour layer with the detail you want and inhance.. try the channel mixer.
So don't expect to make any holograms with your digicam CCD without multiple shots and some fancy software :) hehe... don't worry if you don't understand this last statement... |

I have been playing with this and I think that a polarizer can be immitated with a little work... it will NOT duplicate a polarizer for obvious reasons... u can't remove reflections and glares without the actual polarizer, but you can increase the color saturations to immitate that aspect of a polarizer...
