You may have noticed an error in the "time since last post" on the front page. There appears to be a bug in the forum code with regard to time change handling (it seems to be making the adjustment an hour early when calculating the time elapsed since a forum post).

This is causing the time since last post to be negative for posts made within the last hour. This will also cause any threads showing a negative "time since last post" to remain blue even if you have read all posts in that thread.

This issue only appears to be affecting the elapsed time calculations. The time listed on the posts is correct, and the "Current Server Time" as listed at the bottong of all DPC pages is also correct.

This issue has been reported to Drew and Langdon. They will most likely not see the report until the morning, but I expect the issue to resolve itself by 02:00 EDT/01:00 EST.

Thanks for the update...

Since the current server time and thread times are accurate, you don't expect this to affect the ending of challenges? It certainly won't if it is resolved as you expected, but just in case.

I expect the server will handle the time change properly, changing at 02:00 EDT to 01:00 EST. There is no way to know for sure until then, but it has always worked in the past, so I would not expect that to change.

As an additional note, some posts are appearing out-of-sequence in the forums. This will happen if ALL THREE of the following conditions were met.

1. A post was made in the last hour before the time change (between 01:00 and 02:00 EDT)
2. A post was made in the first hour after the time change (between 01:00 and 02:00 EST)
3. Less than one hour passed between the first and second post.

If all three of the above conditions were met, the second post will appear before the first.

This bug has been reported.

Would also explain why someone could fly out of Texas and arrive in CA at the same time.

Allegedly... here is the link I found for my students to explain to them why we do this and it purports the benefits of saving electricity in all seasons. :o)
